Adding Student Enrollments
Students occasionally get missed from a course section—whether due to late enrollment or a sync issue with your SIS. This guide shows you how to manually add individual students or bulk upload multiple enrollments using the ClassRanked admin dashboard.
Method 1: Add a Single Student from the Terms Table
Within a Term, Course Sections and Student Enrollments are organized as tabs. The Terms page itself has Active & Upcoming and Past tabs at the top — Active & Upcoming shows terms in progress or starting in the future; Past shows ended terms. (Updated February 2026.)
- Go to Survey Setup > Terms and select the relevant term (e.g., 2025 Summer).
- In the Course Sections table, find the course section the student is missing from.
- Double click on the section in the table.
- Go to the Student Enrollments tab.
- Search for the student's name or email.
- If they appear under Not Enrolled in Course Section, click Add.
- Click Save, then confirm the enrollment when prompted.
- The student will now be listed under the enrollments for that section.
Method 2: Add a Single Student from the Student Enrollment Table
- In the same term view, scroll down to the Student Enrollment Table.
- Click Add Manually.
- Enter the student's email and select the target course section
- Click Create to finalize the enrollment.
- You can confirm the addition by searching for the student's name or email in the table.
✅ This method is great for spot-checking or fixing a few missing students quickly.
Method 3: Bulk Upload Multiple Students
- From the Student Enrollment Table, click Upload Enrollments.
- Click Upload a CSV File and select your pre-formatted file.
- Map the columns in your CSV to the required fields:
Email(required)Term(required)Role— must be set to Student (required)Academic Unit— the Course Section ID (required)
- Click Upload. Once processed, you'll be prompted to click Done.
- Check the Activity Monitor to verify the status and results of your upload.
- Refresh the page—student enrollments will update as records are added.
⚠️ All four fields above are required. Uploads that omit Term or do not specify Role as Student will fail validation.
🔍 Activity Monitor tip: The Activity Monitor table includes a Task Type column that distinguishes which kind of CSV upload each row represents (e.g., Student Enrollments, Course Sections). Hovering on an entry shows a quick summary of upload details. (Added February 2026.)

Removing Student Enrollments
Method 1: Remove From the Section View
- Navigate to the Terms Table and click into the course section where the student is currently enrolled.
- Go to the Student Enrollments tab.
- Locate the student you want to remove.
- Click the "X" to remove and then Save.
- You'll be prompted to confirm the un-enrollment.
- Once confirmed, the student's name will disappear from the section and the enrollment count will update accordingly.
Method 2: Remove From the Student Enrollment Table
- Search for the student in the Student Enrollment table.
- Identify the section they're enrolled in (e.g.,
AD101 D01). - Click the 3 dots on the right side of the table (you may need to scroll) button and select Delete.
- Confirm the deletion when prompted.
- After a few moments, the student will be fully removed from the section.
✅ Tip: To verify the removal, you can return to the section and check that the enrollment count has updated—or that the student is no longer listed.
Reviewing a Student's Enrollments
You can now review all of a student's course-section enrollments directly from the People modal — open Survey Setup → People, find the student, and open their detail. Their enrollments across all terms are listed without needing to navigate term-by-term. (Added March 2026.)
Exporting Enrollments
Enrollment exports of 500 rows or more are now delivered as a secure download link by email instead of as a direct attachment. The link is valid for 24 hours. Smaller exports (under 500 rows) still download directly in the browser. (Updated April 2026.)
